A Guy’s Guide to Packing for Your Honeymoon

A Guy’s Guide to Packing for Your Honeymoon

The wedding is coming up in a couple of weeks and the last thing you want to think about it packing for your honeymoon (even if that is the part you’re most looking forward to). Of course, there are so many different locations you could be going and different seasons, so we’re providing you with a general checklist for everything you need for your honeymoon.

Casual wear: There’s a pretty good chance that no matter where you go, you’re going to have some downtime. Not every meal is going to be super fancy, not every afternoon is going to be planned. So bring a few casual outfits: shorts (if it’s warm where you’re going), jeans, tees, etc.

Everyday wear: These are the kind of outfits you’ll wear to a casual lunch or during a tour, etc. Shorts and jeans can still apply, just make sure you have the appropriate footwear and shirts. This really depends on what kind of trip you’re going on, too. Look at what kind of excursions or tours you’re going to be doing.

Formal wear: Unless you are going to the opera or some black-tie event, formal wear usually is just “pretty nice.” A suit, at most, but often this can just be slacks and a nice shirt, maybe a blazer. You need to have a couple nice shirts with you no matter what, but for anything more, again, look to your itinerary.

Swimwear: Even if you’re not going to the beach, there’s a pretty good chance that your hotel will have a pool. Even if not, it’s always a good idea to have a swimsuit just in case.

Activewear: This is especially important if you’re going hiking or some other strenuous outdoor activity. Plus, if it’s your thing, you may want to workout at your hotel gym while on vacation.

Shoes: Again, this depends on where you’re going and what you’re doing, but, generally, we recommend having one pair each of flip flops/sandals, sneakers/walking shoes, casual shoes and formal shoes. Plus, don’t forget your socks.

Layers: If you’re going somewhere other than the Caribbean, it’s a good idea to pack layers, especially if you’re traveling during an offseason. A light jacket or pullover that can be put on over just about anything. Plus, a mix of shorts and pants and long sleeve shirts and short sleeves.

Packing Tip: Bring clothes that you can mix and match or wear again to minimize how much you need to pack. For example, you don’t need four pairs of jeans; you can wear a pair or two multiple times and be fine. And maybe your favorite button-down can be worn casually with khaki shorts or look a bit nicer with slacks. This is also where layers come in handy.

We know you know how to pack your toiletries, but if you want a little instruction here’s a list:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shaving gear
  • Skincare necessities
  • Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel
  • Deodorant and cologne
  • Comb/brush and hair products
  • Sunscreen, tanning lotion
  • Any medication you take, plus general pain reliever, cold medicine, etc.
  • Anything else that you include in your daily routine

Electronics: Cell phone and charger, for sure. Laptop and charger, if you think you will need it (but we don’t recommend bringing it). Camera. Headphones.

Other wearables: Hat or visor. Watch and other jewelry. Sunglasses.

Reading material: A book, eReader, magazine, etc.
