Creative Ways To Get Married During a Pandemic

Creative Ways To Get Married During a Pandemic

The COVID-19 crisis has certainly thrown a wrench in many couple’s wedding plans for 2020. While you can’t throw a huge affair, for the time being, that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate your love and commitment to one another. All you need to do is get a little creative. We asked some wedding pros for their top ideas on how to get hitched during this time so that coronavirus doesn’t put a damper on your I dos.

Don’t forget, GenerationTux always offers Free Swatches, a Free Home Try-On delivered to the Groom, and suit and tuxedo rentals to your entire wedding party 14 days before an event.

ORDER HOME TRY-ON

Stand On The Front Porch

You’ve already heard of a backyard wedding, but why not say I do on the front porch? Kaitlin Cooper of Kaitlin Cooper Photography explains that this setup allows people to gather in the yard and on the street (as long as you have safely blocked off the street and notified neighbors about it), rather than having to walk through your house to get to the backyard. Guests are still able to see your wedding suit/tux and dress while sharing your vows, while still staying at a safe distance.

Head To The Drive-In

Joan Wydnrum of Blooms by the Box recently saw a couple that contacted their local drive-in movie theater, who agreed to let them rent it out for a socially distanced ceremony. The couple said their ‘I Do’s’ with the movie screen as their background while guests watched from their cars.

Plan a Car Parade

You can say your vows in an intimate ceremony at home with just your parents and siblings in attendance, and then invite guests to come by and congratulate you with a festive car parade.

Enjoy nature

The sky’s the limit: The mountains, the beach, a beautiful lake, a local garden or even the forest. “There will be plenty of open space allowing for social distancing if friends and family wish to attend. And nature creates a gorgeous backdrop for photos,” says Lynne Goldberg of Ms Wedding Planner.

Celebrate Your Local Haunts

Getting married just you two? Rachel Silver of Love Stories TV suggests choosing a place in your city that’s special to you and get married there. It could be in front of the bar where you met, your first apartment building, or the restaurant where you got engaged.

Host a Virtual Dance Party

The pros at Element Entertainment have started offering a virtual dance party for couples. A DJ uses a secure video streaming platform to host, playing everyone’s fave tracks wirelessly from their remote location. Party guests can join in on the live stream and dance the night away in the comfort of their own home. All attendees are able to see and hear the DJ, as well as see the other guests on the streaming service.

Use a Football Field

If you want all of your guests to be able to attend your wedding and still practice social distancing, Cooper recommends seeing if you can get married at a high school or college football field! Whether it’s your alma mater or a school nearby, this can be a unique and memorable way to get married. And with rows of bleachers, it makes it really simple for all of your guests to sit far enough apart while still having a great view of you and your fiancé.
