Fall is an amazing time of year to get married: the weather is cooler, the colors are brighter and it comes before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. And with the start of every season comes a fresh crop of wedding trends that brides and grooms will want to incorporate into their special day. We asked some planners to share their predictions on what will be the top trends for this coming fall, and here’s what they had to say.

Micro Weddings

Even before recent world events, many couples were leaning towards more intimate affairs. A micro wedding goes beyond that, inviting fewer than 30 guests and hiring only the necessary vendors. In fact, a recent survey from wedding company Joy found that a whopping 76 percent of couples are planning to have micro weddings. “You would only invite family and super close friends for a quick ceremony, champagne toast, dessert, and a send-off,” says Irene Tyndale of Irene Tyndale Wedding & Events.

Outdoor venues

With the need to social distance, many couples will opt for locations that have ample outdoor space so they can spread out guest tables and still offer an array of entertainment and activities.

Unique color combos

Brides and grooms are thinking beyond all white or white and black décor, says Oleta Collins of Flourishing Art Design Studio. She also expects to see more spring and summer colors as couples who had to reschedule their weddings still want to use their original color palettes.

Neon Wedding Signs

Whether it features the couple’s last name or a sweet quote about love, Rosy Nuboer of Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino, says that neon signs will be big this year.

Classic tux style

More grooms will opt for the full James Bond look by donning a classic tuxedo on the big day, predicts Collins.

Interactive food stations

Made-to-order food and beverage stations will be huge this fall, says Trip Wheeler of SB Value. Not only does it follow social distancing guidelines, but it’s a wonderful way to please all of your guests.

Bold boutonnieres

There will be an explosion of color with boutonnieres this fall. “We love the look for two or three yellow ranunculus or billy ball flowers for a pop of color,” explains Joan Wyndrum of Blooms by the Box. She adds that succulents will also remain popular because they look perfect throughout the day.

Mismatched attire

Many couples are ditching the uniform look for their bridal party attire, says Ivy Summer of Voulez Events. For example, grooms can pick a specific color for their groomsmen, but have them choose the suit style that best works for them.

Metallic details

Metallic elements like gold and silver are always an important part of the wedding, just make sure to keep consistent in the same metal to all the designs, notes Michelle Salazar, a wedding planner at Andaz Mayakoba  and My Perfect Wedding.
