Everybody knows how to put on pants, right? Tuxedo pants are a bit different than your normal day-to-day trousers, so here’s what you need to know so you can look your best.

Tuxedo pants, compared to regular suit pants, have several features that make the, stand out. First and foremost is a satin stripe down the side where the seam is. This helps create the “seamless” look of a tuxedo, as well as promotes continuity between the pants and the tuxedo jacket, which will include a satin lapel and satin buttons. You can also choose to wear glossy shoes.

Tuxedo pants also do not have belt loops. This means you are, under no circumstances, to wear a belt with a tuxedo. If you need a little extra help keeping them in place, opt for suspenders instead.
